Dear All
A. Interesting comments from two students are used for learning today.
B.1 First, there are three Malay equivalents for lost
1. I lost my book
Saya hilang buku saya
2. The scout lost his way in the jungle.
Pengakap itu sesat di dalam hutan
3. Gamblers are lost souls
Penjudi- penjudi ialah orang sesat
So the translation of lost in my blog is the third one
Marry a lost Princess in Amerika
Kahwin dengan seorang puteri sesat di Amerika (dengan = with, a = se + classifier)
B.2 Second is a reply about soccer, I shall add correction in red for learning
“Spanyol gondol (menang) di dalam Pertandingan Piala Euro.
nama nakhoda( captain) (ketua) pasukan Spanyol ialah Iker Casillas.
Liverpool Striker, Fernando Torres menang satu gol untuk Spanyol
Saya befikir Pasukan Jerman mesti kecewa tetapi mereka syukur dengan pengampu (penyokong) mereka untuk usaha mereka (kerana usaha mereka). Saya kasihan pasukan Jerman!”
Gondol = barren in Malay menang = win
Nakhoda is the captain of a ship
Tua = old; ketua = elder which becomes captain in any group including soccer
Score is men + jaring (net) + kan => menjaringkan (a noun becomes a verb, to net)
Pengampu = suckers; sokong = support add pe becomes supporters
The last strike means too much in a setence.
Kasih = love, kasihan = sympathise
Terima kasih, Cikgu
