Selamat petang cikgu,

I’d like to clarify the usage of selamate sejahtera. Could you please provide some examples of the context in which it is used?

 

Selamat pagi

Selamat sejahtera is a versatile greeting in that it is not constraint by any time frame.  Hence it is loosely equivalent to ni hao in mandarin or good day in Australian English or more closely related to How do you do in British English.

However it has a formal tone and normally you tend use it for teacher, interviewer, or bosses or supervisors.  A causal Apa Khabar is used among close friends and coursemates.
