Dayung Sampan

Selamat pagi

Seorang pelajar tanya saya tentang ‘Dayung Sampan’ selepas baca ‘payung’ pada muka surat 24 dalam Nota BM.

This is an Indonesian folk song which becomes ever-green in Mandarin made popular by the late Teresa Teng.

Here is a latest version from Ms Noraniza and He Yun

Ini lirik lagu Dayung [row] Sampan [Malay boat]

Dayung sampan dayung dayung sampan

Datang dari negara China sampai Singapura

Dayung sampan dayung dayung sampan

Datang dari negara China sampai Singapura

[come from China arrive in S’pore]

Aduhai Cik Abang sampai Singapura

[Oh [exasperation of pain/tiredness]  Elder Brother [Sir] arrive in S’pore]

Dayung mendayung sampai ke Singapura

Dayung Dayung Dayung Dayung Sampan

Dayung Sampan

Dayung dayung Sampan

Menuju kita ke utara

[Towards north we head]

sampai Malaysia…x2

Wahai kawan-kawan sampai Malaysia

[Oh my friends [now] arrive in M’sia]

Dayung-mendayung sampai Malaysia

Dayung dayung dayung dayung sampan

Dayung sampan dayung dayung sampan

Menuju kita ke utara

sampai Malaysia…x3

dayung sampan…x2

[reproduced for language learning purposes based on listening JW Sew Mar 2010]

tuju = go to > menuju = head towards
