New Story from TA5 and TA6

Dear All

I was immersed in my reading and writing until finally realized that I did not comb my hair late in the evening….sigh

Here are 2 stories from TA 5 and TA6 (not sure if I remember completely)

Nama teman saya Valentino

Semalam kami pergi membelah-belah di Vivocity pada hari Valentine

Kami pergi membeli hadiah hari jadi Valentino

Seorang perempuan cantik meminta kami membeli bunga ros (mawar)

Saya tidak suka bunga ros kerana saya suka ayam tetapi saya membeli bunga itu.

Saya membeli lima puluh kuntum bunga mawar biru.

Kami memasak soto ayam dengan bunga ros.

Sup ayam soto soto ayam menjadi biru

Selepas minum sup soto ayam kami sakit

Kami pergi ke hospital Mount Alvernia pada malam hari Valentine

TA5 17 Feb. 2009 part 2 of 4-6pm

TA6 17 Feb 2009 part 2 of 10-12pm

I have also reply 2 questions via comment in the previous blog on setelah and suffix -kan.

Please take a look.  Feel free to sound out any bits of the stories left out due to memory lost.

Terima kasih

  1. Hi, may I check if I got this translation right? (:

“Saya membeli lima puluh kuntum bunga mawar biru.”

    => I bought 50 petals/stalks(??) of blue roses(??)

Also, for the sentence: “Sup ayam soto menjadi biru”, should it be ‘soto ayam’ since the other sentences before and after it is written that way? Or does it matter? (:

    Terima kasih!

  2. Dear Carmen

Yes you got the translation perfect.

Sup is used to show that the author knows that soto ayam comes in soup. Hence soto ayam menjadi biru is a robotic translation whereas sup soto ayam menjadi biru is a culinary-intelligent or just say culturally intelligent translation.

    Terima kasih.

  3. Yep soto ayam is definitely better.

It’s the pisang goreng vs. goreng pisang confusion that bugs me in quick blogging.

    terima kasih
