Third Story on 2 Feb and New words in my listening classes

Dear All

Here is the story in the 3rd make-up class yesterday:

Saya ada dua orang adik perempuan dan seorang adik lelaki.

Adik perempuan saya suka makan burger Ramli

Adik saya Jean belajar di Universiti Pengurusan Singapura dan kakak saya belajar di Universiti Nasional Singapura.

Adik lelaki saya pelajar tahun dua Politeknik Singapura.

Kami tinggal di Blok 123 di Hougang, Singapura.

Saya dan datuk suka berlari anak dua kali seminggu di stadium Hougang

Kami berenang dua hari seminggu di kolam renang SengKang

Selepas berenang kami makan rendang, ikan dan kentang goreng di Toa Payoh.

Vocabulary:

kali = times (frequency)

ikan = fish

kentang = potato

kentang goreng = potato chips

rendang = Malay dried curry

These are the new words in my listening:

kuat = strong

sedikit = a little bit

perlahan = slow

cepat = fast

Betul = correct

Ya = yes

Salah = wrong

Boleh = can

Mahal = expensive

dengan = with

Majlis = party

Tahun = Year

Api = fire

mula = start or begin

The rest of the words are found in all the 3 lectures

    Hi, I’ve checked but there’s no such word as seminggu??? Also, why is there “anak” in the sentence? anak means child right

  2. Hi Sarah, for seminggu, think of the word minggu – week, so minggu in seminggu is now a classifier and thus seminggu means 1 week = weekly.

    you should add that to minggu hence a week.

    Please refer to lecture 3 on why anak appears in the sentence.
