Dia becomes -nya following an action

Here are examples from Kamus Dewan (1997: 860)

1. Ayah dan ibunya marah kepadanya.

2. Dia cuba hendak mengambil buku lain, tetapi Kintan segera memarahkannya

Third person (dia) will become -nya following a verb

Possessing the action from the subject/actor

On bukan and tidak

Bukan= contrastive negation

Tidak = descriptive negation

For negative contrasting, bukan is used:

1.Buku ini buku saya bukan buku awak

This (book) is my book not yours

2. Dia anak Ali bukan Ahmad

S/he is the child of Ali not Ahmad

3. Jururawat: Bukan Tuan, bayi itu lelaki bukan perempuan

Nurse: No sir, the baby is male not female

To negate a description tidak is used

1.  Ali tidak makan nasi dia makan mee

Ali did not eat rice he ate noodle

2. Dia tidak datang ke kelas kelmarin

S/he did not come to class yesterday.

3.  Mereka tidak belajar di perpustakaan tetapi di bawah pokok
